In Bangladesh, Saving Certificates or Sanchayapatra is a widely used savings instrument that is generally considered risk-free investments. Savings tendency in our country is quite common for all. To mobilize this tendency, Sanchayapatra is a broadly used scheme of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Here we are trying to discuss the existing Sanchayapatra facilities in our country which we think solve the queries about Sanchayapatra.

First of all, we know about types of Sanchayapatra:

Key types of Saving Certificates or Sanchayapatra are as follows;

1. 5 Years Interest bearing Sanchayapatra
2. 3 Monthly Interest bearing Sanchayapatra
3. Pensioner Sanchayapatra
4. Poribar Sanchayapatra
 
Now we briefly know about each type of Sanchayapatra in the following.
 
01. 5 Years Interest bearing Sanchayapatra
This scheme was first initiated in 1977. Value of this Sanchayapatra started from Tk. 10. Then, 50,100,500,1000,5000,10000,25000,50000,100000,500000 and 1000000.
Period: 05 (Five) Years.
Rate of interest: 11.28%. But in case of Immature encashment rate will be;

Who can purchase:
01. Any Bangladeshi citizen can purchase.
02. Provident Fund defined by Act 49, Sub act (2) of Income Tax Rules-1984(Part-2) and Provident Fund Act-1925(19 no. of 1925).
03. Income Tax Ordinance-1984, 06 Schedule Part-A Para 34, income from Fishing Farm, Poultry Farm, Production of Peltate Poultry Farm, Seed Production, Local Seeds Distribution, Cattle rearing Farm, Milk, and milk made food farm, Horticulture, Silk Cocoon farm, etc. which is certified by Assistant Commissioner.
04. Can be purchased on behalf of Teenager.
 
Purchase Limit:
01. For Person: For a single person 30 Lac or Jointly 60 Lac.
02. For Organization: No limit for an organization.
 
02. 03 Monthly Interest bearing Sanchyapatra:
This scheme was first initiated in 1998. The value of this Sanchayapatra started from Tk. 100000,200000, 500000, and 1000000.
 
Period: 03 (Three) Years.
Rate of interest: 11.04%. But in case of Immature encashment rate will be;

Who can purchase:
i. Any Bangladeshi citizen can purchase.
ii. Adults Jointly;
    a) Both can withdraw the benefit or anyone can withdraw with a written agreement.
    b) Or anyone.
iii. One adult;
     a) On behalf of one teenager
     b) Jointly on behalf of two teenagers.
     c) Himself with one teenager jointly.
     d) Appointed manager by the Court of the mentally abnormal.
iv. May be purchased on behalf of Teenager.
Note: Sanchayapatra amount may be paid through Cheque or cash. In case of cheque, Sanchayapatara may be issued at the date of the Cheque Drawn at the Bank.
 
Purchase Limit:
For Person: For a single person 30 Lac or Jointly 60 Lac.
 
03. Family Sanchyapatro:
This scheme was reinitiated in 2009. The value of this Sanchayapatra started from Tk. 10000,20000,50000,100000,200000,500000 and 1000000.
 
Period: 05 (Five) Years. (but interest given on a Monthly basis)
 
Rate of interest: 11.52%. Rate will be applied different in each year;

Sanchyapatro holders get benefits at the end of each month and after completion of 05(Five) years, he/she will get the investment amount.
If anyone wishes to encash before the maturity date, he/she has returned the following;

1,09,500.00-Taken Interest.

Who can purchase:
Any Bangladeshi female citizen above 18 years old, physically handicapped male or Female, 65 years old or above 65 years old male/female can purchase.
Purchase Limit:
For Person: For a single person 45 Lac.
 
04. Pensioner Sanchyapatro:
This scheme was first initiated in 2004. The value of this Sanchayapatra started from Tk. 50000,100000,200000,500000 and 1000000.
 
Period: 05 (Five) Years. (but interest given in every three months)
Rate of interest: 11.76%. Rate will be applied differently in each year;

Any retired person from the verified job, Wife, and children who enjoy the facilities of pension of a deceased job holder.
 
Purchase Limit:
For Person: For a single person 50 Lac.
 
Special Attention:
01. This Sanchyapatra cannot be used as a Guarantee for bank loans.
02. This Sanchyapatra can be purchased from one office. If this Sanchyapatra purchased more than one office or Purchased over limit Sanchayapatra holders couldn’t get any profit.
 
General Rules for all Sanchayapatra:
 
01. NID of the Sanchayapatra holder along with 02 copy passport size color photographs.For nominee NID along with 02 copy passport size color photographs.
02. No need of a TIN(Tax Identification Number) certificate up to 02 Lac. In the case of Pensioner Sanchayapatra, No tin Certificate is Needed.
03. In case of deceased Sanchayapatra holder Nominee can encash Sanchayapatra before or after maturity.
04. Sanchayapatra can be transferred from one office to another.
05. Sanchayapatra can be purchased or encashed from National Savings Bureau, Bangladesh Bank, Any Scheduled Bank, Post Office.
06. In case of Damaged, Torn, Lost of Sanchayapatra Duplicate Sanchayapatra may be issued by the concerned Sanchayapara issuing authority.
07. Interest coupon can be transferred to the Sanchayapatra holder’s desired account through BEFTN(Bangladesh Electronic Fund Transfer Network).

The government is providing 11.76% for Pensioner Sanchayapatra, 11.28% for 5 Years Interest bearing Sanchayapatra, 11.04% for 03 Monthly Interest bearing Sanchayapatra, 11.52% for Family Sanchayapatra.
